High Country Outfitters in conjunction with the Upper Chattahoochee River Keepers, the SUP Splash race series, the Surfrider Foundation, and the City of Sandy Springs brings you the First Annual “Stand Up for the Hooch Race & Festival”.

The “Stand Up for the Hooch Race & Festival” will introduce world class competitors and beginners alike to the calm inviting waters of the Chattahoochee River.  With a perfect viewing stage from Morgan Falls Overlook Park, the event will be a highlight for many families and friends.  The race will include various divisions from a 6 mile course for elite paddlers to a two mile race for beginners, age classes for men, women, and children, and demo periods for non-racers throughout the day.  There will be something for everyone to enjoy.  The “Stand Up for the Hooch Race and Festival” is a World Paddle Association sanctioned race and part of the SUP Splash Race Series.

Race details:

  • May 4th, 2012 – Pre-race Party – “16th Annual River Revival” a benefit for the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.  This event is held at Park Tavern in Peidmont Park and will feature live music, silent and live auctions, beer from Sweetwater Brewery, and food from Park Tavern.  The discounted price of $40.00 for race entrants not only gives you admission to the race but also a year membership to the Upper Chattahoochee River Keepers.
  • “Stand Up for the Hooch Race and Festival” will take place on May 5th, 2012
  • The race will be held at Morgan Falls Overlook Park
  • Race cost – $40.00 (includes Registration Packet and lunch)
  • Race categories include Men’s and Women’s Elite 6 mile for 12′ 6″ and 14′ boards.  Men’s Women’s and Children’s 2 mile for 12′ 6″ and 14′ boards.
